Attractive earthenware cheese dish and underdish. Dates to c1890 and manufactured by poppelsdorf company, Bonn, Germany, marked to the base Wessel for Ludwig Wessel. Floral decoration with relief pattern too. In good condition, with no chips or cracks. A very nice piece. Measures 7 inches (18 cm) in height (including the handle), and measures 9 inches (23 cm) in length (including the underdish). Some general crazing is present. Marked to the base of the underdish with an impressed Wessel, and to the inside of the cover with the Poppelsdorf company backstamp for the period. Weighs unpackaged 1600 grammes.
