A World War One souvenir of the French town of Albert on the Western Front. The statue of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on top of the Basilica was hit by a shell in 1915 and was fixed at right angles by French engineers. The statue subsequently disappeared, probably melted down by the Germans. Approximately 21cms square.
