A mounted, framed and glazed sepia tone print of the Dee Bridge & Mills in Chester. There was originally a wooden bridge crossing the Dee at this point. It, however, broke down and was replaced by the present structure which was erected by the citizens in 1280. It consists of seven arches of regular size and shape. The Mills date back to a period shortly after the Norman Conquest. They were the property of successive Earls of Chester, who drew large revenues from them. They have three times been destroyed by fire. Overall, framed, measures about 14 1/2" x 11 1/2", 37cm x 29cm and weighs about 720g.
